Mysteries of the Mountain Men

Running Time: 58:41

The legend and lore of Mountain men who lived in the North American Rocky Mountains from 1810 through the 1880’s is an interesting one. Mountain Men could be a rowdy bunch, fighters, hunters, drinkers, gamblers, or they could be successful business men who helped tame the wild wild west. Indian women would sometimes help guide the mountain men to find the animals they were hunting. Mountain Men worked with Fur Trading companies to keep up with the high demand for fur and felt hats in the early nineteenth century, such as the hat Abraham Lincoln wore. It was a hard life living away from society, but their contribution was vital to the economic growth of California.
